Item No: 80368.
The F-14D Super Tomcat was the final variant of the F-14. It was first introduced in 1991, replacing the TF-30 engines with GE F110-400 engines and updating the digital avionics systems with a glass cockpit and AN/APG-71 radar. Other improvements included SJU-17 NACES and IRST technology. While intended to be the ultimate version, some units did not receive the F-14D. However, due to a compromise, 55 more aircraft were produced, including 37 new ones and 18 upgraded F-14A models designated as F-14D. An upgrade to allow AIM-120 AMRAAM missile capability was planned but later canceled.
